Funeral for slain border agent set for Monday

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — The funeral for slain U.S. Border Patrol agent Nicholas Ivie is set for Monday.

Ivie was shot to death early Tuesday morning near the U.S.-Mexico border as agents responded to an alarm that was triggered on a sensor. A second agent was wounded but has since been released from the hospital.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. PDT Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse at 2100 Yaqui Street.

Stake president Kevin Goates says a second funeral service in Utah and a memorial service in southern Arizona will be announced later.

Mexican officials say two men who may be connected with the shooting have been arrested.
